Support Services
Partners in Support provide an intensive support service to people with learning disabilities and Autism, including people who have unfair reputations for challenging services, to live in their own homes. The organisation will eventually support a maximum of 50 people at any one time.

Staff members are employed to work specifically with individuals to enable them to live as independently as possible in their chosen community and to maintain their tenancies. Support is commissioned and provided to people on an individual basis and reflects their needs and wishes. The support is built on the principles of self-determination and aims to ensure each person is able to direct their own support and be involved in making decisions.

A Team Leader will be employed to manage the support provided to each person. They will line-manage all the support workers specifically employed to work with an individual. All staff recruited will be "matched" against clear criteria for each person and the criteria will be developed with the person, their relatives and/or circles of support. The matching process is a key principle of the organisation and will not be compromised. The Team Leader will be responsible for liaising with family members and other key stakeholders on a day-to-day basis.

Prospective individuals who wish to be supported by Partners in Support will need to have an individualised service design and budget developed. The individual service design will need to include the following information:

  • The place where the person wishes to live
  • What lifestyle and relationships are important to the person
  • What type of housing they require
  • Whether they wish to live alone or with others
  • What support they require
  • What staff they wish to support them
